History of Okklania

As a story

Pre-Okklanian history:
Okklania was founded by an individual who was part of Okklan before establishing the micronation. Okklan was a group or a community of friends. However, as time went on, most of Okklan’s members left due to conflicts with another clan, leaving only the two original founders behind. Despite Okklan’s legal existence, it had little influence or active participation after its members departed. Seeking to create something more meaningful and independent, the founder decided to leave Okklan’s legacy behind and establish Okklania. This decision was driven by a desire to forge a clear and autonomous identity, distinct from Okklan’s fading influence, but still sharing something.

Foundation and Early Expansion:
On July 20th, 2024, Okklania was officially founded. The micronation quickly expanded into Prague, establishing its presence in the region and setting the foundation for future growth. The flag was already designed by the future president and it was made to reflect the nation’s unique identity while still keeping some details connected with Okklan. This period also saw Okklania beginning to expand culturally and politically, as the founder and a small group of citizens worked to create something more than traditions taken from Okklan.

First cooperation with Busqunia:
Just under two months after its founding, Okklania established its first cooperation, setting the stage for future diplomatic efforts. The first international relationship was with the Republic of Busqunia from Turkey. This cooperation was significant in helping Okklania position itself in the global micronational community, both morally and practically.

Government Transition to Monarchy:
On October 9th, 2024, Okklania underwent a significant political change. Through a referendum, the nation transitioned from a fully democratic government to a monarchy. This shift aimed to create a more stable and centralized leadership, ensuring a stronger, more organized structure as Okklania grew.

Symbolic Name Change:
In January 2025, to fully distinguish Okklania from Okklan, the King decided to revise the national emblem, removing the last shared symbol between the two entities. This change was a deliberate step to solidify Okklania’s independent identity and avoid any remaining confusion with Okklan’s past. This step was something Okklania had to go through as it grew bigger in the micronational community.

Territorial Reorganization:
On February 16th, 2025, Okklania faced a territorial reorganization. The Záhoří region was expanded, Okkles was moved and the Okklaha region was relocated to a more logical position. These changes were made to improve governance and better reflect the micronation’s evolving structure as it expanded. The same day, the first infrastructure of Okkles was built by the king.

The constitution
Since the beginning of Okklania, the king wanted to make a constitution for Okklania. He failed multiple times, because he couldn’t obtain all the important things. That changed on 20th of March, when he finished the constitution. The constitution is valid since the beginning of year 3 in Okklendar (1st April, 2025).

Creation of Okkommunity
After almost a year of existencce, the king of Okklania decided to take a little step back into the history and made an agreement with Okklan, Oklania Gaming and Okklangames to make one big project Okkommunity, which would connect all those projects and value all the projects the same, while still working under one big organisation. With that, the king bought a new domain named after Okklania, but also used for the purposes of Okkommunity.

Founding of Okklania Devs
On 16th of January 2026, the king founded Okklania Devs. It is a part of Okklania, which takes care of making and updating an app for our citizens, making apps that help people and much more. Okklania Devs was founded as an Okklanian organization.

Citizen OS
Okklanian citizens never had many opportunities to engage in the community. For more than a year, Okklania had a Discord server, but it was mostly abandoned. To let citizens engage and vote about something again, even after the change to monarchy, the king decided on 30th January 2026 to use Citizen OS as the central communication service in Okklania. 

ID cards
On 19th February, Okklania got an id card design from DMA. The cards were designed by volunteers in DMA and they are unified for the whole alliance - only some details are changed to respect the nation's identity. Since Okklanian king was one of the designers, Okklanian id card was one of the first versions.
